I am happy to report that Lighthouse, the company I work for, just entered the blogosphere. Our blog name is not the most creative, but it is dead simple to remember: Lighthouse Blog. A quick teaser:

We provide totally independent and unbiased advice and representation to expatriates around the world. As we love nothing more than a healthy exchange of point of views, we simply hope you will enjoy your stay and will enter the discussion !

There are very few international advisers who are blogging or simply participating in the web discussion. Our aim is to fill this gap, with informed postings and many lively discussion with our clients, friends and visitors.

Of course, like every new blog, there only are a handful of posting there. Just give us a little time and you’ll see many thought provoking ideas pop up over there. The best way you can stay updated is to subscribe to the Lighthouse RSS Feed.

I’m back a changed man!

I’m just back from my trip in Europe. My left hand is slightly heavier now, and I am walking on clouds every morning thanks to delightful sugar notes. For those who don’t know me personally, I just got married 10 days ago in France. The ceremonies were beautiful, the reception was a great success, the bride was the elegant and gorgeous queen of the night, and the following day reception (rebond as we say in my region) was simply great !

Apologies for not updating this website over the past month, I’m sure you’ll understand a marriage is a serious business ! I am now back to good old Malaysia and will resume updating with a newly-wed-resolution: I shall do it at least once a week!

I started this blog with the idea to “help individuals with their personal finance, and of course learn many new things along the way”. I waited quite while before writting my first line because of “too much thinking, hesitating and procrastinating”. Reading back on these lines I realize that I set myself obstacles from the start !

I am now back to the starting line in terms of what do I want to do with this blog. I tried for a few months to get it going on the subject of personal finance, with a twist towards expatriates; but I have difficulties getting in front of the keyboard as often as I intended to – and feel guilty because of it. At times I simply don’t know what to write, at others I want to write about many many things, but which are not what this blog was created for.

I think I started with too high and focused objectives. I think I simply need to start my blog. Not one about personal finance, or SEO, or the latest digital wonders. A blog where I can come and write a few things when I want to, without setting myself obligations, where I would not hesitate one second to post 3 succeeding posts from the economist (yes, I’m still a fanboy!). A blog without a precise focus, where I can write everything that goes through my mind – if I feel like writing !

I am not sure this URL is the right one for such a blog. I may switch to a new domain name along the way; but for now, I’ll stick with it and see how things evolve.

I promise myself I’ll not think too much and simply get writing.

Sounds like a great idea right now !
